Win £750 with the Hungerford Community Award.

Tell us your idea and you could win £750 and see it become a reality with the new Hungerford Community Award.

The Town & Manor of Hungerford is proud to launch the new Hungerford Community Award for the best initiative to introduce or improve something for the benefit of the community. Entries will ideally be as wide-ranging as possible, for example: a festival, new bandstand, attraction, monument, activity, event etc. that supports the local community culturally and/or socially.

There will be two prizes, consisting of:
1. One Adult prize of £750 cash
2. One Junior prize, for those aged up to 18 years of age, of £250 cash

The Town & Manor and the other judging panel organisation will also aim to help implement the winning initiatives (where feasible).

Who can enter?

Entry is open to anyone who lives in the Hungerford Parish. This can be as an individual or as part of a group of individuals. Applicants may submit more than 1 initiative entry.

How to enter

Entries should be no longer than 4 pages of A4, of which no more than 2 pages should be text, and should include your name, contact details, and age if under 18, along with illustrations, plans, images or photographs as needed, to convey the initiative and give the proposed benefits to the community. Entry is free.

The submission should also include an outline of the potential benefits of the proposal, how it could be implemented, and an assessment of the economic viability. Entries should be submitted by email to or posted to the Town Hall, High Street, Hungerford, to be received by 8th March 2019.

Judging of entries

The judges will consist of a joint panel, with trustees from the Town & Manor along with representatives from local organisations such as the Town Council, John O’Gaunt School & Hungerford Primary School, Town Team and the Chamber of Commerce. The judging will be chaired by the Constable, who also has the casting vote. The judges’ decision will be final. Ownership of the initiatives will rest with the Town & Manor.
