Wednesday is market day in Hungerford, when cars give way to shoppers, traders and stalls filled with fresh fruit, vegetable, fish, meat, flowers, clothes, fabric, collectables and more.
You’ll find the Hungerford Charter Market on the High Street just outside the Town Hall, starting early in the morning and packing away early afternoon. Don’t forget to check the Town Hall Steps and Magistrates Room, as both are often hired for indoor sales, are are very popular for arts and crafts markets.
If you’d like a stall at the weekly Charter market, please speak to Darren on the Flower Stall.
Did you know… Hungerford is believed to have first held a market in 1248. A few years later, in 1296, Edward I confirmed in writing the rights to hold a market. Click here to discover more about the history of our market.
From time to time we also play host to markets with a more international flavour, including the popular French and Italian Markets. Check our events calendar or Things to Do page to see if one is in the diary!
A regular attraction in the Town Hall’s Corn Exchange is the popular Flea Market, with a variety of stalls and items to tempt visitors. Find the date for the next Flea Market here.
